Exhibition at the Museum of City History Offenbach

„Form follows…“

The exhibition was composed on the occasion of "Tage der Industriekultur" (festival of industry culture in the Rhein-Main area) by the team of speziell® in Offenbach. It compares historical objects with contemporary designs. Beside exhibits of the museums collection products of the design studio are shown that match in function, form, material or habits in use. The technical evolution process provides new possibilities for the designs - on the other hand many unexpected similarites can be found.

Announcement in the programme booklet of the Museum of City History Offenbach:

„Form follows…“
Products are designed! Numerous and different, as can easily be seen. But what are the thoughts behind the design? How is product design interwoven with the prevailing technological and social trends? What changes can be detected in the different decades? The three graduate designers Sybille Fleckenstein, Jens Pohlmann and Dr. Thilo Schwer from the award-winning Offenbach design studio speziell® take us on a journey into the past and present of product design. The trio will introduce themselves and their own designs from the last twelve years. The associated design principles are set in relation to objects from the museum depot. This creates a subjectively coloured view of the history of industrial design.
